Senior Pastor Ellsworth Chester
Rev. Ellsworth Dorsette Chester was saved in 1974 in Georgetown, Guyana, and, after serving faithfully in various ministries, was elevated to Deacon, Elder, Pastor and then became Senior Pastor of Newtown Assembly of God in 1989. He is known for leading and dispatching outreach teams across the length and breadth of Guyana, pioneering local Christian Television broadcasts in Guyana, serving as the host of the Victory and Praise Hour as well as the speaker on the Victory Hour radio broadcast. His vision led to the founding of Deliverance Assembly of God which is also now a thriving ministry in Guyana.
Rev. Chester was born to Elaine and Samuel Chester on January 14th and surrendered his life to Christ as a teenager. He immediately launched into a life of service teaching Sunday School, serving in the Youth Department, Men's Fellowship, Choir, Church Band, and at Bible Club in Secondary School. As he grew in Christ, leadership of various Departments, then service in more senior leadership assignments in Church, became his responsibility. He prepared himself well, graduating from the Assemblies of God Bible Institute and the Caribbean School of Theology.
Rev. Chester loves working with the people of God and has a heart for missions outreach and evangelism. He has traveled extensively to many countries in Africa, Europe, South America, Asia and the Caribbean as well as across the United States and Canada, Hawaii and Mauritius, preaching, teaching and holding leadership seminars for pastors and lay workers. In addition to his role as Senior Pastor at Victory Assembly of God in Brooklyn, NY, he is also the Missions Advance, New York (MANY) Director for the Brooklyn/Staten Island Section of the New York District of the Assemblies of God. He is married to Pastor Felicity and together they have three children – Joshua, Jonathan and Gabrielle.
